"Subject to the other provisions of this section, the National
Assembly shall stand dissolved on the day immediately preceeding the day
appointed in accordance with section 97 for the first session of the next
following National Assembly."

So how can Parliament which was in elected in January 2002 be
dissolved before runing a five year term?
Does parliament have to be dissolved in a presidential election in
The Gambia? Please try to understand the technical wording of the constitution

Mr brother the life span of this parliament is october/ November. The section you mentioned stated on the day immediately preceeding and that power to dissolved the parliament vested on the head of state. As the presidential election is in october this parliament will be none functional come october/november.
