40 days to deliver Eid greetings. Were the messages hand delivered by
the lone Bedioun camel postman given the time it took to reach us or are
we just way down the their list that it took 40 days to get to us. Or is
it that there isn't any better news than a 40 day-old belated Eid greeting?
I must be missing something.

President Jammeh still receives Eid el-Fitr messages

President Yahya Jammeh yesterday received belated Eid Al-Fitr
felicitations from the leaders of Lebanon and Turkey.

In his letter, General Emile Lahoud, the President of the Republic of
Lebanon, wishes President Jammeh and all Gambians prosperity, progress
and successs on the occasion of the Feast of Eid el-Fitr.


He says: “On the occasion of the Feast of Eid Al-Fitr, I am pleased to
present to Your Excellency, both personaly and on behalf of the Lebanese
people, our best wishes and hopes that the Almighty will bring to Your
Excellency and to the friendly people of The Gambia all prosperity,
progress, and success; and that the spirit of this holiday will continue
to bring you peace, love, and forgiveness throughout the year.”


President Ahmet Necdet Sezer of the Republic of Turkey expressed similar
sentiments.
In his letter addressed to the Gambian leader, President Sezer says: “On
the occasion of Eid El-Fitr, I wish to convey my sincere congratulations
and I take this occasion to extend to Your Excellency on behalf of the
Turkish people and my own behalf, my best wishes for your personal
health and happiness as well as for the progress and prosperity of the
people of the Republic of The Gambia.”
