All praise is to Allah.  The moon was not sighted on the 29th of Ramadan
(Wednesday 5th January 2000) and in accordance with the following hadith Eid
al-Fitr Prayers will be on Friday 7th January:

Muslim reported on the authority of Abdullah Ibnu Omar that the Messenger of
Allah (saw) said: “The month of Ramadan may consist of twenty-nine days; so
when you see the new moon observe fast and when you see (the new moon at the
commencement of the month of Shawwal) then break it, and if the sky is
cloudy for you, then calculate it (complete thirty days).”
