I was also wondering why news of such importance is nowhere to be found on the BBC website. Well, if the BBC had had such a long focus on Africa, I just wonder why there is a complete news blackout on this incident. As far as I know, not even the press in neighboring Senegal has reported it.

With the Daily Observer a mere mouthpiece of the APRC and The Point's website down, The Independent is carrying a lone struggle to inform the outside world through their Allafrica host. The rest is based on what we get from the grapevine or on telephone calls to The Gambia.

The dictum that information is power is largely under-utilized by the opposition in exposing such injustice, and I think NADD needs to review their tactics in this area.

Joe,

This is the problem we face today. We lack true
leaders in our country today. The Gambia is no where
close to making any Western nations's top 10,000
priorities. The BBC headlines for Africa would rather
carry stories of the 3 Algerians held in Italy than
our 3 oposition leaders jailed at Mile 2, more
testament to the point that we have to fight this
battle all alone.

Regards

Ess
