Lamin,

I hope the story is just that, a story and that these people are safe somewhere. Jammeh is that crazy, Lamin - this has not been and is not beyond him and his goons.

Soffie

Could someone verify this outrageous story. As far as I read from what Pa Nderry posted, it is mare speculation. I do not buy this kind of speculation. Jammeh is not that crazy. come on Pa, hold on and catch your breath.

Reports circulating in The Gambia hinted about the alleged execution of the five coup suspects recently detained by the government. The five alleged coup suspects were alleged to have been summarily executed by the government of President Yahya Jammeh, amidst government claims that the coupists escaped while being transported to a jail house situated in the Central River Division called the Jangjangbureh prisons.

The men believed to be killed were identified as Daba marenah, former NIA boss, Lieutenant Alieu Ceesay, Alpha Bah, Sergeant Malafi Corr and Lieutenant Ebou Lowe.
Meanwhile, the government claimed that the vehicle the alleged coupists were traveling with reportedly plunged into a ditch, which resulted the automobile somersaulting. The five coup suspects, we heard escaped in the process of this alleged accident. However, many here believed that the five suspects were summarily executed by the government. The government however, maintains that the men's whereabouts were unknown.
Shortly after the quelling of the alleged coup, President Jammeh appeared on National Television vowing that whoever tries to unseat his government will be crushed to death. He told the nation that this time around there will be no compromise and was posed to set a drastic example on the alleged coupists.
Jammeh came to power through a coup in July of 1994. In November of 1994, certain army officers accused of attempting to overthrow his military junta were captured and summarily executed by government loyal soldiers. Former AFPRC Vice Chairman Sanna B Sabally was said to have been very instrumental in the execution of these soldiers.
Meanwhile, speculations continue to rife across the country, regarding the whereabouts of the five coup suspects. The whereabouts of the alleged ring leader Ndure Cham still remains unknown. While the government claimed that Cham was in neighboring Senegal, the government in that French speaking country are yet to confirm such reports.
