Yet again, the other half of living has claimed another son. He was a great ball player and good person. His generation built the sport to the products we read about, today. They played for the love of the game and continue to be students and masters of the game. May he repose in peace.

He gave us his best. Growing up I was a luke warm supporter of the teams then. I was more interested in how each of the masters peddled their wares and tried to imagine each of my picks in a line-up of eleven and watch the chemestry work itself. Certainly he had a place in that line up with Biri, Sahou, and many others. How many will say they were ever prouder of being a Gambian at the sight of the line-up of that generation, at Box Bar Stadium, and with Saul Njie on the mike televising the game to households from Bara to Basse. Yes folks, I said televising the game. In Saul, one can actually watch a game without being present. Let me jolt your memories for a second with a crude rendition of his delivery. There is an infringement...; The big men advance...; It's there..; keeper Segga deflects the ball for a corner-kick..; Real on the attack...; Away we go....; Throw in for Wallidan. One to Real and one to Wallidan...; Over to Mile seven studio for the local news. I will sure keep the many happy memories and the enjoyment the Cappy and his generation brought to us.
