Dr Saine,

Honestly, Professor John Wiseman's death is a sad loss to Gambian studies in
particular, and African studies in general. I intend to be paying a more
fitting tribute to him after the burial on Friday. Sandra and I, by the
grace of God, would be driving to Newcastle to attend his burial.

I spoke to John by phone last week, and he was telling me about the acute
and constant pain he was feeling all over his body, especially around his
neck, as a result of the malignant tumour in his neck, but I didn't think he
was going to die on Sunday. What a loss!!!

Ebrima Ceesay

PS: Ebrima Sall's email address is: [log in to unmask]

I'll give you Dr Jeggan Senghore's email tomorrow. By the way, Dr Senghore
was supposed to take up a new post in Niger, but I am not sure whether or
not he is still in Dakar. Perhaps Ebrima Sall might know about his
whereabout.
