Some of you may have been wondering what ever happened to Basil Jones, the
resident economist of the L. Well, he was busy putting the final touches on
his PhD (Economics) dissertation which he successfully defended last month
at the University of Hull, UK. Dr. Jones' thesis is entitled: "Growth,
Convergence and Economic Integration in West Africa", excerpts of which we
expect to be published in the African Development Review of the ADB.
Please join me in congratulating Basil for accomplishing his goal which I
hope will serve as an inspiration to Gambians, young and old alike. Basil
is currently on secondment from the Central Bank of The Gambia.
