Subject: Re: Petition on Dumo and who are the "Balangbaa Group"?

Malanding,

'Balang Baa' is an eGroups mailing list which has been mistakenly associated
with the petition drive by Annika, Dumo's wife. She was delegated to
distribute the petition in The Gambia and whiles doing so, she wrote a
covering letter inferring that 'Balang Baa' mailing list was behind the
petition drive instead of Gambia-L. This was published by 'The Point' in its
18th. August issue. I must hasten to add that this was a genuine mistake on
Annika's part.

When some of us read the article in 'The Point', we took it up for
discussion and concluded that a rectification would be in order, thus
Annika's letter and Alpha's subsequent clarification. The covering letter
mentioning 'Balang Baa' concerned only the copies of the petition
distributed in the Gambia and that was the main reason why we felt that
Annika should communicate the error to those who had received copies with
the covering letter.

We felt that it would only be fair to those who signed the petition that it
is distributed under the terms by which signatures were solicited. I hope
this clears the air and thanks again to all those who took part.

Regards,

Kabir.
