Asalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah Gambia-L,

It has been suggested that the reason why Allah, the
Almighty commanded the angels to prostate (i.e. salute) for
Adam upon his creation was the tremendous trials and
tribulations that Adam and his children will endure during
their sojourn on earth. No sooner have we solved one
problem than another emerged perfectly illustrated by the
eradication of smallpox and the emergence of of HIV/AIDS
not to mention the enormous social upheavals around the
world.

Life is an unending struggle and real success is achieved
by eternal happiness in Al-Jannah. May Allah (SWT) make us
successful. As we mourn the death of innocent boys and
girls that fell on those fateful days of April 10/11 , as
we seek for justice for this appalling act unprecedented in
the history of our beloved motherland, as we continue to do
our mundane activities let us not forget the bigger
picture and our duty to the Creator of the universe. In
that score I would like to share with you one of my
favorite Surats in the Qur'an (Al-Takathur [the piling up]):

In the name of Allah the most Gracious, the most Merciful

1. The mutual rivalry (for piling up of worldly things)
   diverts you,

2. Until you visit the graves (i.e. till you die)

3.Nay! You shall come to know

4. Again nay! You shall come to know

5. Nay if you knew with sure knowledge (the end result of
   piling up....)

6. Verily, you shall see blazing fire (Hell)!

7. Then on that Day you shall be asked about the delights
(you indulged in, in this world).

May we all benefit from those words of the Almighty.

Have a splendid weekend

MMC
