Gassama,
As you leave for home, I wish you a safe trip. It is good to read that you
are going to send us more information and will continue to write from home.
I have also read what Yerro Mama wrote and it is so sad that most of those in
the Gambia-L cannot come to face the reality of life. One wonders why
Gambians are like that, but it just so happens to us all the time.
All that one could read here even after the elections is jabbering at one
another. Pre-elections, a lot had been said about what Senegal and Ghana did
to oust the ruling government, but post election analysts did not mention
what one can do to forge a better working relation with the winners for a
better Gambia like Senegal and Ghana did.
It is ironic that conceding does not mean accepting on the L. One would
assume that after being so-called western oriented as most of us here think
we are for staying abroad for so long, we will grow up and respect others.
All that I see here is undermining the Gambian electorates. They have been
called on sorts of adjectives instead of accepting the fact that they are on
the whole more sophisticated that the Gambia-L.
Whiles majority of the Gambia Lers live outside the country and never voted,
why not respect what others did. The Gambian people have spoken louder than
ever, so if any one have political speeches to make, why not wait for the
next campaign and go home and join the rallies? The Gambia -L have witnessed
the most outspoken critics of the government, but just as Yerro Mama said the
other day, none of them will even contribute a dollar to the course they
believe in.
This brings to mind what somebody else forwarded here. The PPP/UDP alliance
received only $2000.00 from the Diaspora. I hope this is wrong. I did not see
any rebuttals to it yet.
What the government is doing is extending an "olive branch" to all. It does
not have to be taken, but let us all work together for the betterment of our
nation instead of all these noises over the roof. I must say I have a lot of
respect for those who tend to be hibernating when they knew they are proven
wrong by the Gambian electorates. NO one here, and I mean NO ONE here should
say anything to undermine the dedicated Gambians who caster their votes. Let
no one think that because they could speak/write someone else's native
language, that gives them license to under mine the Gambian voters.
We do not have to move on or continue to move on, but I am sure all those
saying anything else here are engaged trying to better themselves. So let us
all try to do what best we could do together for the betterment of the
country.

Ousman Jallow Bojang.
