The ruling Alliance for Patriotic Re-orientation and Construction
(APRC) have expelled 26 of its membersfor ‘violating the rules and
regulations’ of the party with effect from yesterday , March 12th,
2012.

According to a press release from the Office of the President, 12 of
those expelled are currently contesting as Independent Candidatesfor
the forthcoming National Assembly Election.

Below is the full text of the release;

Following the recently concluded nominations for the 2012 National
Assembly Elections, it has come the knowledge and understanding of the
APRC Party Leadership that a certain number of candidates from the
APRC Party have been nominated to contest on an Independent ticket.
This action violates the APRC Party rules and regulations.
As there is nothing like Independent APRC Party Candidates (you are
either an APRC Candidate or an opposition), the National Party leader
and Secretary General wishes to inform the Party supporters and the
general public at large, that the following APRC Party members
contesting as Independent Candidates in the upcoming Parliamentary
election slated for March 29th, 2012 are hereby being expelled from
the Party with immediate effect:

APRC supporters are being reminded that voting for any Independent
APRC candidate is the same as voting for the opposition and it will be
a great disappointment to themselves, after having massively voted for
His Excellency The President at the recently concluded Presidential
elections, to vote for the opposition or an Independent Candidate who
would not be able to bring any meaningful development to their
constituencies as a member of Parliament.

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) is being notified of this
new development and is requested to de-register or disqualify any
Independent Candidate under the banner of the APRC Party. These
candidates are barred from using APRC colour, symbols or materials, of
His Excellency The President’s name anywhere, anytime.

By the same token, the Party warns its esteemed loyal members and
supporters to desist from associating themselves with these candidates
especially during the campaign period. The APRC Regional Structures
are requested to monitor the APRC militants who follow and support
these Independent Candidates and report them to the Party Secretariat
for appropriate action, which may include expulsion.

Based on the above, the security forces should arrest and prosecute
any Independent candidate who uses APRC colour orsymbol or the name of
the APRC Party during the campaign and election period. Furthermore,
in a bid to cleanse the Party off “sheep’s in wolves’ clothing”, and
those whose actions are detrimental to the interest and advancement of
the APRC, the following individuals have been expelled from the Party
with effect from today Monday 12th March 2012.

Aji Louise Jobe, Alhaji Abou Jallow, Aji Kendaka Ceesay, Manu Kumba
Williams, Sheikh Cham, Kofi Harris, Pa Sanneh, Lamin Fatty, Alhaji
Tamu Nyang, Aji Binta Sonko, Fatou Touray (Jaja), Ya Rama Mbye, Awa
Nyimbi Njie, Jalel Boye- Constituency Chairman of Upper Fulladu West.
