Did I read your mind? Your editorial hit the nail on the head. I'm
septical about Senegal being our guardian. I'm sure you remembered the
Senegambian Confederation? I think the introduction of term limits and
zero tolerance of any form of military coup into our constitution could
remedy current situations.President should be chosen by the ballot not
the bullet. There is another monster to tackle which is
illiteracy. There is a saying in Sarahuleh which says " When you sow a
stone it will never germinate" So is democracy in Africa. Our approach
is all wrong. It will take a long way to go. The Devil you know is
better than the Devil you don't know.

Subject: Re: [G_L] President Morsi writes new constitution

Hous:

It is equally worrying that he is coming out this way right after he
had such a nice conversation with Obama on his role in Palestine. He
probably saw that as an opportunity to station himself in the power
seat. In hal Pularr, we say "Koo hendu addih, duluru nabatah." It
simply means if the wind brings something, the wind whirls will carry
it further. I am personally beginning to question if in fact the Arab
Spring is an effective way of regime change. If the man in the
presidency changes and there is no attitude change, that doesn’t
resolve issues. A temporal fix to a problem such as the Arab Spring
gives time to people to think about a permanent fix. The problem of
such a method of change will without doubt continue to threaten the
peace and stability of this region.

I am sure you didn't miss this editorial;

>
> Really?Just days after Morsi brokered ceasefire between the
Isrealites
> and Hamas, came the anouncement that he will change the
constitution.The
> new constitution will give the president more powers. Why did he
need
> more powers for? My question and the question most people will ask
is
> has the Arab Spring been effective? Is Egypt going back to the
Hosni
> Mubarak era? There is no question that such a move on the part of
> President Morsi is major blow to the concept of the Arab
Spring.Now let
> see how critical the West will be by such a move.Right now Morsi
has
> the West on his side.He has cut a deal between Isreal and Hamas
that
> resulted into a ceasefire.
> Remember the saying "the devil you is better than the devil you
dont
> know"? Stay tune.
