South Africa renews support for AU Commissioners

Pretoria, South Africa (PANA) - South African
Foreign Minister Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma has reiterated
Pretoria's commitment to assist African Union (AU)
Commissioners to build a strong continental organisation
that would meet the challenges of the 21st century
including poverty and under-development.

Zuma spoke in Pretoria late Tuesday during talks on the
African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) with AU Commissioners
-- Bernard Zoba, Bience Gawanas and Elizabeth Tankeu -- who
are in South Africa for the second APRM Steering Committee
meeting, which began in Johannesburg Friday.

The Minister told the APRM panel that South Africa would
be among the first countries to subject itself to the peer
review mechanism process.

Zoba, Commissioner for infrastructure and energy said efforts
were being intensified to fast-track the implementation
of decisions of the AU summit, with emphasis on infrastructure
development and market access.
