GAMBIA TOURISM AUTHORITY

VACANCY

DIRECTOR GENERAL

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the post of
Director General of the newly created Gambia Tourism Authority(GTA).  The
Authority has been set up to encourage and promote the development of the
tourism industry which is a major contributor to the Gambian economy.

DUTIES:
The Director General will report to the Board of Directors of the Authority
and will be required to perform the following duties:

- develop strategic plans and budgets for the approval of the Board and
ensure successful implementation in line with industry and Board
requirements;

- promote and develop positive working relationships with  Government and
the tourism industry within The Gambia and abroad to ensure their support
for the Authority's activities;

- ensure the sound financial position of the organisation by securing
adequate funding for the Authority and its activities.

- and to lead, manage and motivate the management team and staff in the
promotion of highest quality service in achieving the objectives of the
Authority

QUALIFICATION
Candidates for the position will be required to possess the following:

- a University degree with a strong understanding of both government
and tourist industry operations and at least five years experience at
Director level in the commercial sector;

- a sound commercial acumen with strong marketing and management background;
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills, credible at Board and
ministerial level

- and  be strategically aware with proven leadership qualities.

AGE:

Between 40 and 50 years
