Hi Ginny

This piece was written By Br. Yusuf Hijazi. This article is posted on
Allaahuakbar.net.

Sufi and Soofi are the same thing like As salaamu alaikum and As salaamu
aleikum. The Arabic word is the same but when transliterated to English the
spellings differ. As for wearing woolen coats, this is what was done
centuries ago. I am not sure if current Sufi groups engage in wearing woolen
outfits.

Beside some of the statements of Imam Shaafi’i, Imam Ahmad, Ibn Taymiyah
against Sufism among others in the article I posted, there is a lot written
up about Sufism like *The Reality of Sufism in light of the Quran and
Sunnah* by Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Rabee Ibn Haadee al-Madhalee and *The other
side of Sufism* by A.A. Tabari.

My goal was not to get into a toggle here but to show that some of the
greatest Imams of old and some from our time spoke against and refuted
Sufism using their (Sufi Sheikhs) own statements and texts.

I hope this clarifies some of the questions you posed.

Take care,
Salieu
