Hello, Salieu, this is the last I have to say on this discussion. As far as what Nuh Keller said
or didn't say, if one is going to quote from him, one should quote correctly, or if one is going
to quote from Islamic luminaries such as Ahmad Ibn Hanbla, Imam Shafi'i etc. (and may Allah reward
all of them), one should quote correctly and not only give partial quotes which at first seem to
support one's arguments, but instead, when quoted properly and within their proper context, say
something very different. The quote about tasawwuf has to do with practicing tasawuff without
fiqh, and not just practicing tasawuff. The scholars you quote from, who purportedly quote from
Imam Shafi'i, Imam Ibn Hanbal, etc., definitely have a Salafi, if not Wahhabi bent, and this is
well-known and can be researched and verified. And how can Nuh Ha Mim Keller be quoted as
supposedly quoting the anti-tasawuff quote, when his very article was written to refute such
anti-tasawuff claims?

At any rate, if you wish to continue the discussion with Musa, tht is fine, but I think as
for my participation in the discussion, I feel that it has run its course. I feel this is
something that we are going to just have to agree to disagree on, and that is that. And I'll end
by stating, as I've stated before, if tasawuff is not up your alley, then leave it, but it is a
legitimate science of Islam, not a sect, or school of thought, but a science in its own right, the
Salafi or Wahhabi scholars' refutations notwithstanding. And that's all I have to say about it.
At the end of the day, Allah is the best to judge on who exactly is wrong or wrong, and so I'll
just leave it at that.

Ginny
