I was surprised to reading in the daily observer; the article captioned “MAJORITY LEADER URGES COMMONWEALTH TO RECONSIDER DIASPORA VOTING”

When we talk of a democratic government, I think it has to be Government that’s elected by the people it is elected to represent, people of whom we Diasporans are no exception to.

What’s wrong in the Commonwealth trying to assist we Gambians in the Diaspora to have a chance to take part in Elections back home? I personally think it’s our political right to take part in any decision making process of our country.

Unfortunately we have a Government insensitive to these facts. And a whole National Assembly Majority leader in the name of Churchill Baldeh, have stood public, to show opposition to this. He even went as far as branding we Diasporans as people who have abandoned the Gambia. I quote:

“It is meaningless for us to consider those in the Diaspora who have abandoned the country. And very few of whom are participating in the development process of the country.’’

Baldeh have openly opposed our taking part in Elections and falsely accuses us of abandoning the country.

He is an empty-head because he knows not, the importance of the hard currencies we pump into the country, to parents, friends etc., which very much contribute to the economy a lot.

He proves to lack a lot, intellectually, therefore it is our duty to further enlighten him and his APRC gang, who are of no use to the Gambian people.
