Staying true to form ruling party members of Parliament opened the dabate on
the serious allegations against the President not by contesting the facts
stipulated in the documents given to them for review. Instead one after the
other they engaged in a broadside about how uninterested their constituents
were about a sitting President committing felonies. Some said they doubted
the authenticity of the documents supporting the allegations saying they were
probably manufactured at the UDP office in Banjul. One even ventured to say
merely entertaining the motion in the House was in itself so remarkable that
members demanding the hearing ought to be grateful at such an extension of
courtesy. Not a single one of them who spoke showed any sign that they wanted
to embark on a process that would have the simple culmination of absolving
the President if infact all the allegations lacked merit. Afterall not a
single document presented to the house regarding the allegations is
unverifiable. All of the documents have names, addresses and times and
recounts judicial processes with plaintiffs and defendants and a presiding
judge. Fully aware of such a mountain of evidence these members know that
their President is upto his neck in corruption and other associated felonies,
crimes for which the constitution mandates his removal and eventual
prosecution. Otherwise why wouldn't they support a process they are obliged
to follow anyway by dint of their position as members of parliament that
would quickly establish falsity if infact these are wrong accusations. The
APRC members have collectively resorted to the crooks' approach to
adjudication which says one needs not be bothered by the facts because one
has already made up their mind. What is even more galling is the utter
contempt they display in their recalcitrance. They are shameless and criminal
in the way they have chosen to abdicate their responsibility. I think
opposition MPs should vehemently insist on making sure a panel is formed to
look into this even if it means continuously disrupting parliament throughout
this sitting and every other sitting that remains in the term of this current
parliament. The majority is not worth listening to and are certainly not
entitled to preside over the business of a nation whose basic laws they are
doing their utmost to undo. They are worse than a rubber stamp legislature.
They have become active enablers in a murderous and criminal conspiracy
against the country. They are unperturbed by the untold misery their
collusion continues to bring to our nation and it's people. They are human
leeches who would do anything to preserve themselves as MPs even if that
means engulfing the nation into lawlessness. They may refuse to address the
facts of these allegations but by God they should not be permitted to do
anythingelse in the name of the people. I say shut the House down and if they
choose to go to Kanalai and run a defacto parliament their then the rest of
the nation can go about their business knowing fully well the APRC members
are working hard serving their real constituent; Yahya Jammeh.
