Yanks,

I am extremely busy otherwise these days. However, I find it critical that I
share some ideas with you and to advise restraint on the harsh
characterisation of Mbarodi. Allow me to use your conversation with Ma Yero.

"Yero, you definitely kill it!
If any one has helped in destroying Juwara is Juwara himself! I think he has
made a big
fool of himself. He was subjected to all that inhumane treatment by Jammeh,
yet no sooner
did the culprit offered him an olive branch he'd forgoten all about the pain
and suffering."Yanks.

I agree with your first statement that if infact Mbarodi is destroyed, then
he would have no one to blame but himself. That goes for all of us. Only we
can destroy ourselves or allow ourselves to be destroyed. I do share that
Mbarodi is not destroyed in my opinion. The inhumane treatment he was subjected
to by indirectly by Yahya and directly by Yahya's apologists has not and
cannot be forgotten. I want to share with you that acceptance of the position of
Chair for the Brikama Area Council does not say anything about forgiving
atrocity and or crime. The two are separate. Yahya recognizes Mbarodi's experience
and value in the area of councils and local administration. He offered
Mbarodi a position he thought Mbarodi was most valuable in. We now expect Mbarodi
to administer independently, truthfully, and honestly for the people of
Brikama. If Mbarodi does achieves success, Yahya will benefit from that success
and satisfaction that something is finally getting done with local investment
and the suffering of the people is being alleviated.
Whatever crimes were committed against Mbarodi prior, and to the extent of
Yahya's participation in those, it will be Yahya's responsibility to apologise
and ask for Mbarodi's forgiveness and it will be up to Mbarodi to accept the
apology and or forgive Yahya. What I want to share with you is that the two
are necessarily mutually exclusive.

"Is he some sort of prophet or what; he forgave him even after all that
cruelty." Yanks.

We do not know if Yahya asked Mbarodi for forgiveness and whether Mbarodi
forgave him for his part in crimes against Mbarodi's person. I would encourage
Yahya to do so if he hasn't already. There still will remain other culprits
and accessories to those crimes besides Yahya. But he must take responsibility
for his own complicity.

"But since i never knew as a prophet i would say he had acted dumb! How can
he forgoten about his loyal
supporters, who had shown him great admiration over the past decade." Yanks.

This is why I advise your caution. Besides his loyal supporters hopefully
did not join or support NDAM simply for empathy for Mbarodi's person. They will
have done us all wrong. Mbarodi could be someone's prophet. Not mine but a
prophet of other nonetheless. And we do not know the dispensation of crimes
against his person yet. SO I would advise restraint on characterizing Mbarodi on
 such.

"Juwara is a cruel traitor we do not deserve him to dissapoint us like
that!" Yanks.

Easy Bro. If Mbarodi is a traitor, he probably has not betrayed you or me. I
would hope you and I and Yero could sense a traitor 5 years away. Besides,
forgiving personal pain does not a traitor make. Neither does it a prophet
make. In other words it is not significant enough to other to qualify as
traitorous.

"But hey, good luck to him if he is locked up again we won't let him out."
Yanks.

I hope you feel differently and that if another crime is committed against
Mbarodi, you will lend him your support and wherewithal to relieve the affect
of such crime. I encourage you to consider your own principle than Mbarodi's
shorcomings. You are much better sticking to your principles. If you believe a
crime was perpetrated against Mbarodi the first time, I am confident you
will do all you can to see him released if he becomes illegally incarcerated
again, much less tortured in detention, legal or illegal.

"On a positve note he has done one small favour for our course, in that he'd
made it easier for us to identify him as an enemy now! Wether his intentions
had been for our struggle or against it, we may never know, but for now we
can atleast sigh a breath of relief that he will no longer be within to unite
and divide our opposition parties again." Yanks.

Yanks. My impression was that Mbarodi did not bring any further division
than there already was within and among your opposition parties. Waa brought
NDAM in to join a coalescing of opposition fortunes. Each of the other parties
did the same. The union of such fortunes did not occur not simply because of
anything Mbarodi did or said, but because of the untenable premise for such
union. The euphoria for coalition for Union's sakes overshadowed sobriety and
reasoned judgement. It was not to be. Not because of Mbarodi. Please do not
regard him enemy for that mirage of perception.

"Yero on a personal note you have to forget about this cattle herding
business; if you leave the centre stage of the Gambia's future politics, then who
are you leaving the responsibility with. Don't count on; me i'm wasted! So you
are stuck like a mother can't leave her baby on his own; like it's cliched
in America; your country needs you! Thanks. By the way thanks for translating
the proverb below, i really enjoyed it!"
Brethren Yanks!

I concur with your sentiment here about Ma Yero. He has so much zeal and
enthusiasm for Gambia's good that it will be a shame if he were to be
discouraged by insignificant personal escapades of other.

Haroun. Carry on brother. But I encourage you to reconsider your perception
of Mbarodi. MQDT. Darbo

Literally it translates “The one in haste of seeing the bride went peeping through
the windows.” It is obvious that the bride will arrive at the groom’s house.
Over the years, we witnessed series of political and intellectual
prostitutions. The latest of them all is the biggest bomb.

> People should have limit of loyalty to their political leaders, or simply
believe in their solid principles only. If they fail like Waa succumbed to
the Nkolu-nkolu tyranny, you will still have pride to your self. On the other
hand, once they stick to the guns you are with them in belief and spirit.

> During the launching of NADD in Atlanta, I heard this Mbarodi figure utter
thus:
> “How can you tell me to be law abiding when I am not a law breaker?” It
is obvious that he was questioning Jammeh’s human rights violations. In a
similar vein, when we contacted him about UGAMA, he uttered thus: “Al-taa see”
This means go ahead and relax. The “minty-tofy” or “kebba-dampha” was giving
a good flavor in his mouth from the APRC tyranny from then on.

incommunicado for at least eighteen months by the A(F)PRC. He was tortured to death,
humiliated and body tattered to shreds. In his second encounter with them, he
served six months for treason on his famous utterance “Lets take to the
streets.” (Courtesy of the Point Newspaper.)

> I may understand if Waa truly wants to serve his country in good faith. I
may understand if Waa needs a job to feed and shelter his family. If he
betrays principle for a temporal gain then it’s shame. There is a tendency for one
to be a trash just like Dr. Taa. The later might be what is under the
microscope now. I stand to be corrected on this one.
