PIU Again! Gun Shots in Jarra after Kemeseng's victory...Why?
By Timbuktu

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 5, 2005
One can still continue thinking about the commonwealth's first card. The
one General Salami placed on the table. How about if the gun shots
continue being challenged by stones in Jarra and elsewhere?

Waiting for orders to open fire and then NADD's supporters pelting stones?
This "cross examination" being conducted by stones and bullets is so
scary!

This was the same PIU that waited for orders to open fire on our school
children in 2000 April 10th & 11th.They did indeed receive those orders,
because they killed and then were set free after killing. A corona's
inquest means nothing within Yaya Jammeh's circle.

When the going gets tougher we should remember The Gambia our homeland.
How about these words: "Let Justice guide our actions..." as soldiers who
listen to this tune every morning and every evening when the national flag
goes up and down! Why not think deep?

Here is a pattern:
Manifestos versus a constitution.
Party Flags versus a National Flag.
Responsibility versus Irresponsibility.
Reality versus Fiction.
Steam Versus Breeze.
Peace versus Heat.

Do we need a referee like other countries? Why not? Gambia cannot be an
Isolated Island where Ivory Coast is being helped through the same spiral
of cleavages.

Even if they were to come from North Korea Just do as they say not as they
do as far as what they say matches a democratic culture.

There is a lesson on wisdom from one great mind that says: "The best
teacher who can teach us about freedom and liberty is that person who
comes from a country or society where it is scarce!" He who feels the
absence of freedom, liberty and democracy knows what it means much better
the one who sees or feels it everyday! He who comes from the hot desert of
Arizona would indeed know the use of a cool room than someone from Alaska!
It is a scientific fact! E.g. chefs cannot cook, serve and then at the
same time praise themselves for having prepared good dishes. How about
leaving that for the "eaters" to do? Give food to the hungry then they
will tell you how good they feel after a few minutes. Most of the Nobel
peace prize winners come from societies where freedom has been shackled.

That is why it is wise for us as Gambians to listen to any referee that
comes from bodies like the commonwealth during these trying times. Hundred
years from now it is not going to be how many votes APRC, NADD gained that
would count. It is what they did for our people in all honesty that would
matter.

This is why society should always guard decent minds with jealousy. Halifa
publicly called the border stand off a diplomatic blunder! Well was he not
right? Isn't it diplomacy that solved the problem? Where did the parties
meet? In Nigeria. There are "barren" activists calling Nigeria all sorts
of names on related issues, regarding The Gambia under Jammeh. Well...I
think the AU knows more than a lot of us do but they accepted Obasanjo to
lead on this one.

Nigerians are individuals! Nigeria is a nation! Not all Nigerians who are
good, neither are all of them bad. The same applies to Gambia and
Gambians. There are prisons in both countries. Isn't it the people from
the two that are jailed within? Good or bad is relative.

Let us listen to the commonwealth through General Salami before it becomes
too late! Why would Yaya shy away from signing the doc that's coming from
the commonwealth? Is that not exactly the same way how Robert Mugabe
started becoming unruly? Didn't we hear Yaya condemn Mugabe at Yundum
Airport a year ago? This is really absurd!

Have guns ever left a "sweet" legacy behind? Steaming emotions are not
good, more over if they come from the ruling class. Adolf Hitler was so
bitter. He indeed believed in his whims and caprices. His soul was eaten
up by flames and ashes after all the noise! Gun powder should not rumble
where law is roaring!
