I wish to take the opportunity to congratulate President-elect Jammeh,
his Government and Party on winning the elections. It is clear that he
has been given the mandate to run the affairs of our beloved country for
another five years. We must all do what is humanly possible to assist
him in the monumental tasks that lie ahead. This is the right thing to
do in the interest of The Gambia and all Gambians.

To Mr. Darboe and the Alliance, I commend you for running a good race
and for readily conceding defeat to President-elect Jammeh. You have
shown courage and resolve under daunting circumstances.

The real victory, however, belongs to the Gambian People who freely
exercised their democratic rights. A victory for the Gambian People is a
victory for us all.

Now that President-elect Jammeh has the strong support of the country, I
urge him to be more inclusive, move quickly to improve the human rights
situation and work to resuscitate the economy. I wish him well.

Abdoulaye
