African Broadcast Media Leaders’ Summit on HIV/AIDS

Kaiser, in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the South
African Broadcasting Corporation and in association with the Southern
African Broadcasting Association, is co-hosting a top-level summit on
"Re-powering HIV/AIDS Communication and Programming,” from October 3 to 5
in Johannesburg, South Africa. The meeting will convene top executives
from the largest broadcast media companies in 19 African countries, as
well as MTV, MTV International, BET, and the BBC to strategize on ways
that their companies can more effectively help combat HIV/AIDS and work
together to maximize the reach and effectiveness of their activities.
Joining the media executives and Foundation President and CEO Dr. Drew
Altman will be John Samuel, CEO, Nelson Mandela Foundation; Sonwabo Eddie
Funde, Chair, South African Broadcasting Corporation Board; The Honorable
Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Deputy President, Republic of South Africa; The
Honorable Mrs. Jeanette Kagame, First Lady of Rwanda; His Excellency the
former President of Mozambique, the Honorable Joaquim Chissano; Debra Lee,
President and COO, BET; and, Bill Roedy, President, MTV Networks
International and Chair, Global Media AIDS Initiative Leadership
Committee.
