Please excuse ignorance asking here (ignorance is not ashamed or afraid to ask) but is Mr. Manneh related to Fatou Jaw-Manneh? You know how it is with African politics and inter-personal relationships (for example there are family trees etc drawn up of military personnel just to keep an eye on things....

> NDAM Political Crisis Deepens
> As Youth Leader Gets Expelled
> Wednesday 25th April 2007
>
> By Alhagie Mbye & Binta Sowe
>
> The current political tussle between two of top functionaries of National Democratic Action Movement (NDAM) appears to have degenerated into a large-scale crisis with the expulsion of Mr Pa Manneh, National President of NDAM.
>
> Mr Manneh, who has recently been engaged in war of words with Lamin Waa Juwara in the local press, was expelled from the party last Friday.
>
> A 21st April 2007 letter signed by Lamin Waa Juwara, a copy of which has been made available to this paper, states: "I am directed by the joint meeting of the Executive Committee and the Central Committee to write and convey to you a decision effective from today from the NDAM party.
>
> "This decision is based on your indiscipline and anti-party activities. The press has been invited and they have witnessed the deliberation and the decision taken.
>
> "Since you denied that the withdrawal of NDAM from NADD was a unilateral act by me and not a directive from the executive committee, you are free to call the press with those executive members to prove your point.
>
> "The two committees noted that since your objection of NDAM candidature for the flag bearer, you drifted to the party whose candidature you supported, and have ceased to carry out any function for or on behalf of NDAM.
>
> "Take note that NDAM has fulfilled all its obligations in the Memorandum of Understanding and we have honorably left the alliance and our participation was based on honesty and commitment and our performance during the campaign was second to none. I personally covered more grounds from hamlet to hamlet and from village to village across the whole country more than any executive member of NADD.
>
> "The insults in your interview are a sigh of frustration from those who tried to manipulate you and manipulate the process for personal political ambition. I wish you good luck."
>
> When contacted yesterday afternoon about his reaction, Mr Pa Manneh had this to say "This expulsion letter has vindicated me more and has exposed Juwara's egoistic attitude towards anybody he has once associated with. He lonesomely wrote to withdraw NDAM from NADD falsifying that he has been directed by our executive and again he lonesomely wrote to expel me from NDAM falsifying that he has been directed by the Executive and Central committees, which do not exist." Mr Manneh charged that Mr Juwara had failed to understand that he could not force people to believe in what he believes, adding that Juwara has been trying since the 70s to make positive impact in the political terrain but due to what he termed his controversial disposition, his efforts could not bear fruit. Despite this, Manneh claims, Mr Juwara still believes in his pre-eminence, so much so that he thinks that anybody else is not worthy of consideration. He alleged that Juwara does not scruple to trample the rights of other young politicians who stood by him and for him while he was serving time in prison. "This his reaction is no surprise to me. But the truth of the matter is, I have no problem with being expelled from Juwara's NDAM but the NDAM of the people that I know as a genuine political party here and abroad is still in NADD and a member of NDAM. We already initiated a plan of action to unify all opposition [parties] under one solid force to democratically confront the APRC."
>
> Also talking to this paper, two Executive Members of NDAM, Mr Bakary Jarju and Foday Gassama, described Mr Manneh's expulsion from NDAM as unconstitutional and uncalled-for. They both accused Mr Juwara of taking a unilateral decision in expelling Mr Manneh from NDAM.
