Re: Call for Submissions of chapter(s) summary for The Groundwork of Gambian 
History  Project to be received no later than 15 February 2007.

The University of The Gambia is launching a grandiose textbook project titled: 
The Groundwork of Gambian History.  Prospective authors should know that the 
textbook is intended for university level usage and the methodology has to be 
rigorous in terms of structuring and referencing.  Interested scholars are 
hereby invited to submit the title(s) and summary of 200-250 words of the 
topic(s) they intend to research on. This submission should be accompanied by 
the author?s bio-data (maximum 100 words) and a list of two of his/her latest 
publications. Proposals should be sent to:

(i) Momodou Joof is a Senior Lecturer in History in the University of St. 
Louis, Senegal. He holds a PhD degree from the University of Nairobi. He is a 
leading oral historian and has published a book on Oral History in the 
Sene-Gambian Region with the University of Ibadan University Press (2005) and 
several articles in peer review journals.

(ii) Joyce Gomez is an Associate Professor of African History at the University 
of The Gambia. She received her PhD in African History from the University of 
Lagos in 2001. Her research focuses on the comparative colonial systems, jihads 
and nation-building and the history of Islamic brotherhoods in the Sene-Gambian 
region.
