NEWS
SOS HYDARA ASKED JAMMEH TO APPROVE PROPOSED CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS AGAINST
EMBATTLED JUSTICE PAUL
BY OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 19, 2005
Insiders at the Attorney General's Chambers in Banjul, have unveiled on
going moves taken by the new Justice Minister Sheik Tijan Hydara to
motivate President Jammeh to consider pressing criminal charges against
High Court judge justice MA Paul, who was recently indicted by a
Committee consists of National Assembly Members for alleged corruption
and abuse of office, The ALLGAMBIAN can reveal. Justice Paul was the
legal and compliance officer at the Asset, Management And Recovery
Program AMRC, prior to his appointment as High court judge. He later
rosed to the position of manger.

Justice Minister Hydara, according to our sources is harbouring grudge
against MA Paul who recently indicted him in a Commission report for
corruption and abuse of office. AG Chambers sources say the Minister is
currently busy trying to piece up criminal charges against the embattled
Nigerian judge, who was said to have been used by the President to sent
Baba Jobe to jail.

A senior legal counsel who spoke to us yesterday on condition of anonymity
says Hydara has been jubilating openly in their offices for the recent
turn of events on Justice Paul's case. "He is one of those spear heading
Paul's suspension from the bench. He said Paul was bent on telling lies to
the President and as such he believed that Paul should be meted out with
justice for the people he wronged in the country, including his very
self."said our source.

According to the AG Chamber's insider, the Minister in a letter to the
President expressed concerned about Justice Paul's continued presence at
the High court and therefore recommended that in the interest of justice
Paul should cease to function as a judge pending the determination of the
proposed criminal proceedings to be brought against the disgraced judge.

The ALLGAMBIAN also gathered that Justice Paul's pass port has been
impounded by the NIA . This move according to our sources was geared
towards preventing the judge from absconding from the country, as "all
indications seem to suggest that Paul will capitalise on the slightest
opportunity to take on to his hills."

Leaks filtering at the AG Chambers also hinted that the current GPA
managing Director and Kawsu Gibba, a former Continent Bank Chief Executive
were also lined up to be prosecuted. "The Minister has given orders for
indictment charges be instituted against these individuals. It is the
President who is delaying the prosecution of these people. For some
reasons, he had asked the Minister to hold on."said the AG Chambers
insider who claimed to have seen the case files of said former public
officials.
