Sang, thanks for your suggestion. I had a chance to chat with Abdoulie
Swareh and I obtained some clarification on the arrangements that was made
with the community/families. He indicated that they agreed to a $3,000
initial fee for him to secure their release on bail. This sum is to be paid
in two installments and they are to cover his expenses in securing their
release. Once they are released, he will then discuss with them the next
steps. The $3,000 per person quoted was mentioned in passing when someone
in the community inquired about the going rate for legal representation and
he provided them a range. As you'll know, Abdoulie has represented many of
our country folk for next to nothing and we appreciate his services to the
community. Now that we pass that bridge, lets focus on helping the Gambian
community in Kentucky to secure the release of those held. We have Max's
address, telephone ##, and email address. Once again thanks for your
concern and interest in the plight of our country folk. They need our help
and every nickel and dime is very much appreciated. Please spread the word
and together, we shall pass over this hump.
