Saul,
You are spot on for insisting that "we do need to take these opinions
with a pinch of salt." However, it is only a tragedy that it has just
occurred to Mugabe that the wrongs of the past should be remedied now and not
in 1980 when the war against the imperialists was won. It has all the stench
of Mugabe's selfish political interests at a time when he is at his
wobbliest.
However, on the Guardian Newspaper, you can't get a paper as independent
as that paper anywhere. This paper together with Jubilee 2000 are at the
forefront of total debt relief for the world's poorest nations not to mention
myriad of minority rights and issues often resulting to charges that it is an
anti-British paper edited for and by Trotskyists [Leon Trotsky's followers]
and spineless liberal traitors. If the sneering is coming from anywhere, it
always does come from the right wing press like The Daily Telegraph, The
Mail, The Times and almost all the red top tabloids. This doesn't mean that
one shouldn't ready the pessimism of one's intellect when reading from
anywhere be it credible liberal papers like the Guardian or revulsive
anti-multicultural one's like The Daily Telegraph.

Have a great Sunday.
