From The Gambia Daily.

The European Community's representative in The Gambia, Mr. Georges Marc
Andre, has re-iterated the EU's commitment to to support The Gambia in its
development efforts "in a constructive and possitive spirit".

"Our partnership is based on the shared principles and objectives, which
have been confirmed throughout the 26 years of the EC-Gambia cooperation".
The mutual respect of all our commitments will allow the EC to remain a
supporting partner in your development endevour for as long as necessary, he
added.

Mr. Marc Andre was speaking recently at the kairaba beach hotel, at the
information workshop of the centre for the development of enterprises
organised in colaboration with Sahel invest, a local firm of consultants.

In an other development, the executive board of the IMF, after successfully
completing on July 13 its first review of the annual arrangement for the
Gambia under the Poverty Reduction and Growth Facility (PRGF) has said The
Gambia will be able to draw up to SDR 3.4 million (about US$4 million) from
the arrangement immediately.

Meanwhile the Govern has succesfully negotiated a loan of US$16.52 million
with the World Bank for the Capacity Building and Economic Management
Project, which is to be implemented over a five year period.

The loan agreement was recently signed by Mr. John P. Bojang, the Gambia's
Ambasador to the US on behalf of The Gambia government.

Forwards ever, Backwards never!

Have a good day, Gassa.
