Obasanjo is overjoyed. He would not like his vice-president to win anything.

When Patrick Wilmot (Jamaican lecturer at Ahmadu Bello in the 80’s) was interviewed on the BBC a few days ago he also observed that Umaru Yar’adua could probably have won without the rigging.

Some of the hogahs, friendly governors and future clientele must already be making obeisance him – and so it is in the world of Nigerian politics – it’s a big world.
A section of the population does not want a military man or one who has a military background (although Yaradua’s older brother (now late) was a military man, and that in itself is perhaps enough of a connection – he was after all anointed by General Obasanjo.

It was Atiku Abu Bakr who opposed Obasanjo’s attempt to extend his presidency for one more term and you know the repercussions that he suffered as a result.
Remember what happened to Chief Abiola?
