INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY

PROJECT AND TRAINING OFFICER


International Society is a registered Charity providing cultural,
educational and social activities for international students and
others within the Greater Manchester area.

We seek to appoint a Project and Training Officer to carry out a wide
range of duties including the devising and running of training courses
and workshops,  giving talks and making  presentations.    Applicants
should have a first degree and experience in the above areas. 
Previous experience of working in the higher education sector with
international students would be a distinct advantage.

The post is available on a part-time basis in the first instance for
21 - 25 hours per week with a view to the post becoming full-time when
funding becomes available.  The post would be for 12 months in the
first instance.  The salary grade is £16,775 - £18,730 (pro rata).  

FURTHER PARTICULARS

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.      Devising and running cultural awareness courses and workshops.
2.      Developing and running training courses for volunteers.
3.      Developing links with companies, individuals, other organisations
and the local community. 
4.      Devising and implementing surveys.
5.      Making applications to grant making trusts to obtain additional
funding for the Society. 
6.      Recruitment of additional volunteers.
7.      Giving talks and making presentations to student groups and others.
8.      Creating promotional materials. 
9.      Developing and implementing a
marketing strategy. 
10.     Monitoring and evaluating the new expansion of
activities.
11.     Other duties as required by the Director of the
Society.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Essential
1.      Be educated to degree level.
2.      Computer literate (preferably Microsoft Office including Access and
Excel). 
3.      Good communication skills. 
4.      The ability to give talks and presentations to a wide range of 
people. 
5.      A willingness to work unsocial hours where required including 
evenings and weekends.

Preferred
1.      Recent experience of working in higher education and in particular
with students from overseas.
