This is a poem dedicated to all Gambians especially those who lost their
lives during the April student demonstrations. I had sent it to a friend
who asked me to post it to the L. Thanks

Yankuba Njie

WHO… ?

Who’s doing this?
Who’s killing us?
Robbing us of a life
a life yet to be lived

Who is this?
He who denies us a future
a future yet to be realized
He who bereaves us of our dreams
dreams yet to be fulfilled
He who bleeds the soul of our people
drowning us in a sea of our blood

Why must a life so young be silenced?
Will I be on your conscience?
Echoing whispers of dreams
dreams snuffed in a flash and a pool of blood
