STATE DEPARTMENT RELEASES ESTIMATES OF NEW V VISA WORKLOAD

The Legal Immigration Family Equity Act (LIFE), passed last December,
created a new visa category, the V visa, which will be issued to spouses and
minor children of permanent residents who have had an immigrant visa
petition pending for at least three years. To help consular officers know
what kind of a workload they can expect as a result of the new visa, the
State Department issued a memorandum estimating the number of applications
that will be pending at each post.
