Hi folks,

It appears that our worst fears about the transparency of the presidential elections
are beeing realized. It's always been my worry (as I'm sure has been many people's)
that the APRC government will do all they can to win the elections. It is my sincere
hope that in this, they have seriously underestimated the resolve of the Gambian
people. Furthermore, what President Jammeh fails to realize is that the world today
is very different from what it was in 1994, or even 1996. Given that many
internatonal observers are on the ground, along with the eyes and ears of tens of
thousands of Gambians, President Jammeh will be well-advised to realize that he
cannot take the whole world for fools.

My biggest fear now is that President Jammeh and his supporters will plunge the
nation into a violence, once they realize that they cannot win this one, even with
all the illegal acts they can muster. Again, I would like to join the many voices
that have called for reason, and appeal to ordinary Gambians, the media, religious
leaders, soldiers, and security officers that they should all they can to thwart any
efforts by President Jammeh to bring death and destruction to our country. Let us
remember that even though the late President Samuel Doe died over 10 years ago,
Liberia is still suffering from the chaos he brought about after years of mis-rule.
We will be very foolish to let President Jammeh lead our country down that road; a
road that he will not survive, but one our country will suffer on long after he is
gone.

Thanks again, and best wishes.

Katim
