Our Senegalese super star is a legendary star. The likes of Yusu-Maa’ghiigain are great Pan Africanists. I am sure his “Al-Samadeh” didn’t go well with many. Looking at its emergence, it might not be associated with Jammeh even. Many will also hold his neck for not boycotting a concern at a time in the Gambia, probably because of the expectations that people have in him, like my English teacher used to jokingly say time and again, “To whom much is given, much is expected.” Yusu’s music will live many years after him. It will be nice to start celebrating his achievements. Otherwise, we will want to stand at his tomb one day shedding tears of nostalgic memory. I am sure many others are.
