I am very pleased to send this update of the Gamo but sorry for delivering
it this late. It was held last Saturday, the 12th of August in Silver
Springs, MD.

I was trying to figure out what was missing compared to the Banjul 'Gamos'
but could not come up with anything. It was well organized and the turn-out
was very good. We the out-of-towners met old friends and made new ones. If
anyone has the doubt that our generation is left behind, be rest assured to
clear your doubt. Had we had Ushers from Gambia or Senegal, it would not be
any more educating and productive. You can easily tell as the hall was still
full at 5:00 am that the audience heard what they wanted to hear.

We heard from Sherrif Hydara, Serign Dem (son of the late Sheikh Tijan Dem
of Kaolakh), Imam Bai Secka of Atlanta and Sheikh Tijan Badgie of Dallas.
Imam Lamarana Barry gave the opening welcome speech and our renowned
historian, Alhagie Sait Camara gave the closing remarks.

The preachers reminded us about our 'Deen', the things we should do and
those we are to avoid and Sulayman George kept everyone awake with nice
ZIKR.

The DC Area committee thanks every person who helped make the occasion a
success and not forgetting all those who attended. Their prayers goes to you
all. They are also saying thanks to those who traveled from Gambia, Senegal,
New York City, Atlanta, Kansas City, Miami and Dallas.

To those of you who could not make this one, Dallas is next Saturday, August
26th and we will see you in Miami on September 16th and Kansas City on
September 3oth.

Sister Sophie Ceesay, nice to meet you. Brothers Beran Jeng (Kelifagi, I
hope you can remember this title) and Habib Ghanim, I was pleased to see you
again and hope to see you soon at our coming events. Our Dallas Brothers and
Sisters are promising their best gamo ever.

Asalaamu Alaikum

Ebou Secka
