I can't speak for Cherno, but I started this Independent newspaper topic,
and it seems to me that we're getting way off base. The thrust of my note is
the plight of four reporters who are being persecuted for no reason. The
usefulness/uselessness of the article that got them in trouble need not be
issue now. Considering the implications of Yaya Jammeh "winning," would it
be any consolation to any of us, if he succeeds in silencing this newspaper?
I think not. So, why harp on this mundane topic of they "should have," or
"could have" written about some alternative topic. They've already written
this article about Yaya's new wife, for which he is roughing them up. Why
don't we concentrate on getting Jammeh to back off first, before debating
whether the story is newsy at all or not. It's just a matter of priority.
Think about the implications, Hamjatta.
