D-Day was 70 years ago. Many of Europe was in rubbles on that day.

Gambia earned independent nationhood about 50 years ago. We didn't fight a war for it but earned through negotiation. On a land area of about 11000 sq. km with about a 1/2 million inhabitants, water surface of about 1300 sq.km and an annual rainfall of about 500-1000mm.

Today or well before today that same Europe was/is the destination of every freedom/economic prosperity seeking Gambian. The question we ought to find the answer - why are we left/remained behind? Our people are yet to be guaranteed clean drinking water. 1 in 100 or so 1-5year kids die from malaria - a disease that we could be eradicate with clean environment.

Only 20 years was the difference between these 2 events yet the disparity in terms of both human, economic and political development we remained behind. Why/Why not.....this became the case?

Burama
