Aid from Libya to Gambia
 2005-11-05/ A Libyan cargo plane landed at Banjul airport yesterday
carrying aid ofered by the Great Jamahiriya to Gambia.

The aid consists of ten tones of clothes, 20 tones of Libyan dates and ten
tones of flower as a contribution from the Libyan people towards assisting
their brothers in Gambia during the holy Eid Al Fitr.

The aid shipment was received by the Minister of Youth and Sport, the
Gambia Under-Secretary at the Foreign Ministry, the chair of the high
Islamic Council and mufti of Gambia and the Secretary of the Libyan
Peoples Bureau in Gambia.

The aid was distributed in the Muammar Al Qathafi mosque in the Gambian
Capital Banjul, while celebrating the Holy Eid Al Fitr.

A number of speeches were delivered in praise of the assistance offered by
the Great Jamahiriya to the Gambian people as well as other people of the
African continent.

The speakers expressed sincere thanks for the assistance and confirmed
that this aid is a reflection of the sincere efforts exerted by the Great
Jamahiriya and its leader, Muammar Al Qathafi to alleviate the harsh
climatic conditions witnessed on the continent.

They are also a reflection of the depth of relations between the two
sisterly peoples in the Great Jamahiriya and Gambia.
