Hey

For all of you that live around New Mexico, USA. Youssou Ndour is coming to
Santa Fe, NM playing at the Lensic theater. Date: July 25th 2008.
http://www.lensic.com Email me if you are interested.

My office happened to be looking down directly at the roof of the lensic
theater. If he pulls up with his band, I will open my office window and
scream: "mbargejo jogomarr dawul khare gained njie yo dawul khare.... help
me out here"

Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with the event, or the lensic theater. Just
spreading the word.

Njumborr, please do. I had planned to do just that when he came to Chicago
not so long ago, but I happen to be out of town. That is the million dollar
question I would love to ask him. As to Ababacarr, don't worry. All I need
to do is give Assan a few bucks and I can taama my way during the
distraction. If that does not do it, I'm sure Mbye Fye would make it happen
for a few bucks. If all else fails, then you're the man.

As for M, "Waah Naah Kor Neh Naa Bayi Deegay Bi". When was the last time
you saw him in Atlanta? Right. So, I will have to see this one. :-)!

can sing, projects a positive face for Africa to the rest of the world. Then
when it comes to Gambia, Youssou is in love with our criminal in Yaya. My
issues as a Gambian with the criminal empire we have far surpass my concern
for Youssou as an individual any day and even Youssou would understand that
and would do the same if he were in my shoes. I'm pretty sure if Yaya was
replaced with Wade, Youssou would not dare sing his praise or grace his
victory nonsense while the rest of Senegal mourn. So, why as a so-called
conscience of Africa would such a person flip his script when it comes to
our Gambian criminal? > > On the second score, the brother cancelled his
appearance to the US because the US was leading the fabrication of the
attack on Iraq, back in 2001 or so. Well and good. However, right in his own
backyard, in the Gambia, a father, brother, and conscience of Gambia in
Deyda was murdered in cold blood by the state, yet this same conscientious
objector ditched his principles to go help the APRC make a mockery of our
misery. Do you think if Wade had murdered a prominent son of Senegal, an
African artist, much more a Gambian artist would dare appear there to put up
a show for the accused? The answer is hell no. At this crisis juncture in
Africa, the last thing we need is these praise singers to prop up murders
and criminals at our expense. If I have issues with some of our people that
join the murderers to continue to put a number on us, why on earth would I
entertain Youssou or anyone in their place. Right now I do not have
Youssou's time to be celebrating him. My own backyard is in flames, thus, my
urgency will be spent in that effort. Youssou's connection to the Gambia is
the Dalasi, just as the rest of the Senegalese musicians that sing our
praise and we ought to recognize that fact. You will never hear them sing
about the misery that you and I know is faced by the average Gambian daily,
nor the illegal arrests and detentions, tortures, etc. I don't expect
Youssou to fight our fight, but I will not be grinning if he is singing at
my expense either. Njomborr, you can extend this message to your friend. If
I ever meet the man again, these are questions I'm dying to confront him
with. Yes Yero, to whom much is given, much is expected from. Gambia gave
Youssou more than his fair share. It is about time he relate to the Gambian
condition. Sorry, but Youssou must do right by us, first and a good start
would be to stop stroking these criminals in Africa.> > Chi Jaama> > Joe> >

[log in to unmask]> > http://www.gainako.com/> > A tribute like
this one is a good one. Our Senegalese super star is a legendary star. The
likes of Yusu-Maa’ghiigain are great Pan Africanists. I am sure his
“Al-Samadeh” didn’t go well with many. Looking at its emergence, it might
not be associated with Jammeh even. Many will also hold his neck for not
boycotting a concern at a time in the Gambia, probably because of the
expectations that people have in him, like my English teacher used to
jokingly say time and again, “To whom much is given, much is expected.”
Yusu’s music will live many years after him. It will be nice to start
celebrating his achievements. Otherwise, we will want to stand at his tomb
one day shedding tears of nostalgic memory. I am sure many others are. I
might be a late comer but I like to magnify this one big time. I also thank
the author (S.O Gigo) for a record-breaking piece about the superstar. > >
