"COM And DCOM: Microsoft's Vision For Distributed Objects"
published by John Wiley and Sons

The next generation of software systems will be based on three-tier plus
architectures and Component Oriented Middleware (COMWare) in the middle
tier. COMWare combines the flexibility of building with Components and the
highly scalable infrastructure of Transaction Processing Monitors. The
industry is in widespread agreement that COMWare represents the future of
software systems. But how do you choose among the three main COMWare
platforms? Will COM+ provide the solution, with its next generation
operating system and component runtime environment? Will Enterprise Java
Beans give us the long awaited answer to vendor neutrality? Will CORBA scale
up to support commerce on the web?

In this talk Roger Sessions, one of the world's leading experts in COMWare,
compares the three dominant COMWare models: Microsoft's COM+, Sun's
Enterprise JavaBeans, and OMG's CORBA 3.0. He will discuss the common design
features of all three COMWare platforms, the strengths and weaknesses of
each, and how to get them to work together in a heterogeneous world.
