I have just talked on the phone to UDP coalition officials and they said
the voting is going very smoothly except for a few reported problems.
Voter turnout is HUGE. This means that the junta has not been successful
in intimidating the electorate from coming out to exercise their right to
pick their next leaders.

There have been instances of people trying to vote while their names are
not on the master register and the opposition polling agents are doing
their best refusing to allow them to vote. That seems to be working
pretty good so far. There are reports that some 200 UDP supporters in a
CRD polling center did not have their names on the register for some
reason. IEC has been contacted about this and they have "PROMISED" to
look into this and make sure this is corrected.

It l
ooks like many of the people will be able to vote by the 4PM (local
time) closing time. With 42 counting centers they expect the results to
come out relatively early. Some results should be out by 7 or 8PM.

GOD BLESS GAMBIA and HER PEOPLE.
