Will Dembo 'By-Force' join the APRC?

by Ebrima Colley Head Political Desk

In yet another startling revelation as the country's political tide tries to
adjust to the post-Decree 89 era ahead of presidential and National Assembly
elections, NCP leader, Mr Sheriff Mustapha Dibba, on Wednesday morning
disclosed that impeccable sources informed him of Honourable Dembo Bojang's,
(National Assembly member for Bakau) intention to join the APRC if the
opposition coalition did not unanimously adopt a single candidate. Mr Dibba
said when the ban on Decree 89 was shelved, Dembo Bojang attended the first
meeting of the National Convention Party (NCP) but had been absent at the
rest of the meetings. Before these, Mr Bojang was called at Sheriff Dibba's
house to meet the NCP leader when it was rumoured that he (Mr Bojang) was
planning to join the APRC. Asked whether he had made any attempt to see Mr
Bojang to clarify, Mr Dibba said he had not seen the latter after that first
NCP meeting held immediately after the ban was lifted. "He is an elderly
man. So, I don't want to follow him to influence him," Mr Dibba said.
Meanwhile, the Daily Observer tried to contact Dembo 'By Force' at his Bakau
residence but he was said to be out. His daughter, Fatou Bojang, told this
reporter that she knew nothing about the rumour and there were no signs of
such a sudden move.
