 The Surah which has the directive regarding Hijab is in the thirty-third surat of the Holy Qur'an:
 Surat Al-Ahzab: Surat 33. Verse 59
 
 "O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies (i.e screen themselves completely except the eyes or one eye to see the way). That will be better, that they should be known (as free respectable women) so as not to be annoyed. And Allah is ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
 
 And Hadith No. 282 of Sahih Al-Bukhari states: 
 
 Narrated Safiya bint Shaiba: Aisha, Radiallahu anha, (may the peace and blessing of Allah be upon her) used to say. "When (the Verse): "They should draw their veils over their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms" was revealed, (the ladies) cut their waist sheets at the edges and covered their faces with the cut pieces.
 
 Note: The Hadith are the authentic sayings of the Prophet by which he used to teach many things about the deen and interpret the Qur'an and sunnah for the believers and as relayed by his companions and his wives or those who witnessed him making the statements and the authenticity/strength of Ahadith are measured by the ability to trace them directly back to the Prophet via a reliable chain of narration.
