Comrades:

It should be understood with dignity that we refrain from
condemnation. We in diaspora should be very careful in passing
judgment without really knowing what is transpiring on in the
Gambia.

We must also not open too many wounds. It is tragic that we cannot
get our heads together, and thus, we contradict the very principles
that we seek to uphold. The opposition, I hope should not inflict
wounds that are hard to cure. A mistake in judgment should serve as a
guide in making a person wiser. Years in the opposition must open our
eyes with the full understanding of our enemy.

We must reach a point of realization that politics is no vocation.
We must understand that our attidues measure our qualities. Our
approach to political indifference will yield us defeat at the polls.
An opposition without tolerance, understanding, inclusiveness, and
anti-tribe,is an oppostion hanging on the ropes of political defeat.

It is of significance that we evaluate the negatives that continue
to divide us. Mistakes done yesterday should guide in asserting
our maturity. We must be willing to acknowledge that those negatives
devalue our power base.

May God guide us in our desire for a democratic Gambia. May He direct
us as one tribe, one Gambia, one attitude, and one direction to our
ultimate goal of setting the Gambia free.

Naphiyo,

Comrade ML Jassey-Conteh

Conteh Julla,

A very apt and timely question, especially after receiving the wonderful news from Sister Soffie Ceesay on Waa's release.
A week or so ago, I mentioned in passing that Waa Juwara is key to a coalition of the opposition. Now more than ever, the opinion he gave in an interview with the Independent clearly needs clarification. Even if he opposed the idea of a coalition on matters of principle, he needs perhaps to be persuaded that a coalition may be necessary as a matter of strategy to wrest power from the incontinent hands of the APRC. The dificulties toward the coalition effort stretch as far back as the last elections, at least. It is time that we placed these difficulties on the table.
