Laye,
There is no need for you to re-read Halifa's message;Halifa is not perfect
nor does he has solutions to all our problems.Though we owe him respect as
you have stated for his contributions for enlightening the Gambian
electorate,he should never the less accept critisms ,especially when such
critisms are made in good faith.Halifa is a politician aspiring for public
office as such we need to know his true colours.

For many people who sound pro-Halifa or in your words lu Halifa def rek
bahna group will agree that like myself our love, respect and admiration for
this man was his stance agaisnt the former goverment. He was the one we
looked to,listen to and seeked audience with.He will not hesitate to condemn
injustice,anything inhuman,and anything unconstitutional.Halifa was very
aggressive in his approach during those days and as such won the hearts of
many of us.Looking at what is happening on the ground now back home and the
position Halifa takes one wonders whether this is the same Halifa of the
Jawara days or not?Remember his encounter with Jawara on the election day of
1987 at Serekunda. The aggressive reporting/coverage of Sanna Manneh Vs The
State.

Halifa's role during the transition, his campaign for a yes vote in the
referandum ,his early endorsement of the new constitution even though the
majoriy of Gambians were not given enough time to properly digest the
contents of this document, his conclusion on(accident)the murder of Koro, his
analysis of the missing $52m Taiwanese grant in comparison to the PPP
government crude oil deal, his condemnation of fellow opposition politicians
gave me the impression that Halifa was a real Jammeh symperthiser.

Halifa was among the very few who were blessed with the opportunity to go
through the new constitution before its coming into force.Knowing fully well
that the document had been corrupted as it didnt fully express the wishes of
the majority ,Halifa used this opportunity on Radio one not only to
personnally endorse it but encourage others to endorse it too.Was this not
the right time to call for civil disobedience since our wishes were
delibtrately being thrown into the trash pan ?But no,Halifa continued
insisting /mataining his stance that there is still room for improvement ,am
not sure whether what is now happening on the ground is what he meant room
for improvement?

Laye, this forum like you rightly said is not for people who wants to satisfy
their egos..We are not only looking for ways of removing Jammeh but also
looking closely at those aspiring to take up the job.

Nuff Respect

FAAL
