Sister Jabou,

I could not say it any better but just to add that in seven years we are
only talking about a second generator docking in the port and the first not
even put into service yet but the foundation stone laid. There is no reason
to jubilate on this considering that its long over due and when the regime
seized power back in 1994 , it was at the height of the UHC problems and
most people supported the take over with the hope that the electricity
situation will be resolved immediately as was promised by Jammeh. I fully
well recall that sometime after the take over ,a huge generator of higher
capacity ,docked at Banjul port and it took days to move it to kotu ,
paraded through Banjul to kotu but it never worked. With the first generator
foundation stone laid and a second docking in the port with the possibility
of a third to dock soon deserves recognition . There are other
infrastructures that needs to be
address which are critical to the operation of these generators.
To jubiltate about generators docking at the port ,in an election year
is a cheap shot. Our people have been taken for granted too long and the
mere fact that generators are docking at this time is a continuation , in my
view , of taking Gambians for granted.

Beran
