I want to echoe Dr Saine's and others support of this petition,. and to say
to MRDGUK, that this idea behind this petition has been long overdue, and
well done

. I sincerely hope that the opposition parties will rally to what would be
the best thing they can ever do for our country, and that is to form a
united front. Choosing otherwise, as I have always reiterated, would leave
the Gambian people no doubt betrayed in our hour of need. Let the opposition
parties prove to Gambians that they are not just another bunch driven by the
quest for power alone, but that what is best for the country and the people
is their ultimate agenda. As suggested by Ablie Saine, the need to coordinate
and lend financial support to such a coalition is crucial.

 MRDGUK and G-L Community:
This is an excellent idea and one whose time has come. I support it
 without reservation.

Let the opposition parties and their leaders in The Gambia remember the
fatal mistake(s) of their counterparts in the Ghanaian presidential
elections of 1992 in which Rawlings split the opposition and "won."

In addition to the petition, we also need a fund-drive to raise funds to
give a potential United Opposition Party a fighting chance. The odds are
overwhelmingly against them if they remain splintered.

 Cheers!
