That sounds pretty decent. I'd cut back workout time to about a half hour
max. I'm 38 and have been lifting most of my life. For the past 5+ years
I've been lifting like you: low volume and frequency, and very high
intensity. Only problem (aside from never achieving a mesomorphic physique
like DeVany) was that recovery was becoming more and more difficult. I went
from doing one set to failure of (e.g.) squat, weighted dips, weighted,
pull-ups to doing the squats one day, upper body on another because I'd feel
sick the day after when doing all three in a single workout. The soreness
was lasting several days. Then I stumbled across the HST program at
thinkmuscle.com. For the first time in a long time, I don't feel like hell
all the time. I may even be getting a little bigger. So, if you're
experiencing anything like the severe post-workout debilitation I was, you
may want to give the HST program a try.
