Keith,

HGs of course were/are exceptionally intelligent. They were able to
mentally catalogue thousands of plants and their properties/uses, and
hundreds of animals and their habits, tracks, etc. Many anthropologists
have remarked that HGs appear to have some form of ESP because of their
attunement with the environment. They naturally see and hear things that
westerners completely miss.

Their thought patterns are non-linear as opposed to western, linear thought.
For instance, to westerners carrying or cosleeping with your infant will
create a needy, spoiled, dependent child, whereas HGs recognize that if the
infant's need for dependency is met he/she will grow up to be a confident,
productive, interdependent member of the tribe.

HGs favorite games are typically gambling-type games, likely because of the
fact that much of an HGs life is left to chance (weather, luck in hunting,
etc.). HGs rarely think of past or future events, and live completely in
the moment. I do not know of any mental exercises that would mimic these
types of thought patterns. However, one could be more playful; play board,
card, or word games with family and friends; make a conscious effort to let
go of future and past events; quit watching the clock; throw away schedules;
spend more time outdoors; downplay the intellect and restore passion in
one's life.

There are courses that can be taken from the WIlderness Awareness School
that teaches wilderness skills and native thought (I think) (see
http://www.wildernessawareness.org/kamana.html). I have never taken any of
the courses, but they have been recommended to me before and may be worth
looking into.

Now all I need to do is quit my job! LOL

Brad
